We admin of SBM have notice that there is a slow down of SBM pages downloading due to some members putting slideshow and large quantity of photos in their signature. Imagine if one member has a slideshow which consist of 10 photos of 50KB each, that translate to 500KB to download. If 5 members who has slideshow in their signature, post on the same page of the thread, it will be 5 X 500KB ~ 2.5MB of data to download. For members who has broadband ie. streamyx or maxis, they would have no problem downloading that 2.5MB of data in less than a minute. But for a member who use a dial-up or slower connection below 300KB, they will take about probably more than 5 min to download your slideshow. If your slideshow host(eg. Photobucket, Slide.com) goes down or slow, it make matter worst. The page just hang there. With that explaination, we have make some changes on the signature setup: 1. Signature with photos more than 640 width X 250 height pixel will not be display or will get Your signature is too big. Please make it 640x250 pixels or smaller. 2. One signature will be display on the first posting of the page for member who do multiple posting on the same page. 3. Slideshow and other html format will be disable. For those member who has slideshow, you will notice your html coding in your signature. We hope members will cooperate in this matter to speed up loading of the pages. We remind members that a full visual of your face in your signature is a requirement in SBM. If you have slideshow, member are encourage to open your own post in the creative section. |
