With a number of 3-wheelers showing up these days... i thought about showcasing a few that i already know of, and maybe some of you might know of other brands.

Starting with the Piaggio MP3

then the CanAm Spyder

and the Carver One

I know there is one other 3wheeler i saw at Welly Batu Caves but i cant remember the brand.

Ok.. the CanAm Spyder can get kicked out coz it will not lean lah... but the other 2 look rather interesting.

Right now in Malaysia there are a number of three wheelers on the road. There are a few Goldwing Trikes and I also know of a Volkswagen powered trike in Kota Damansara.

Then there are the factory 'brikes' which are three wheelers with two front and one rear wheel.

The Piaggio MP3 is a 250 single cylinder three wheeler available for abour RM 32K.

Then there is the Gilera Fuoco, a 500cc single cylinder three wheeler. An owners impression was posted here about a month ago. Do a search and you will find it.

Soon the Piaggio MP3 400 will be in the shops probably tagging RM 36 K OTR.

The Carver is a three wheel leaning car, powered by a 660 CC motor, a wee bit underpowered in my books. The CanAm is a non starter. Although it looks spectacular, it offers the worst of a bike and a car. It does not lean, hence turning like a car. It is wider than a Kancil so you will end up in the hot sun in a traffic jam, with kapcais whizzing around you. You still get wet in the rain.

But I heard its cheap, around RM80K OTR and will be available in Malaysia soon.

As for te MP3, I have only tried it around the block, and its a lot of fun although its too slow in my books. The Fuoco, well you can read about it here if you like

Hi Sherman... i too like the way the Carver moves. :D

Hi Mamu... if u click on the links.. u can see the pics. Plenty there :)

Hi Nik...
Thanks for you input. Yup.. you reminded me of the missing one, the Fuoco. When i saw it with 2 other friends.. they seem to like the stylings of the Fuoco better than the MP3.

The CanAm Spyder is a waste of time as proven here in the US. Now they are trying to flog it off in other countries pulak. Aiee...

What do you think are the chances of 3-wheelers really taking off in Msia? As it is, due to crazy fuel prices, the Vespa is suddenly becoming a top selling 2-wheeler in the US. It's popularity is knows no age group.

But with safety a constant worry for a lot of 'non-bikers'.. will the thought of going on 3wheels be the attraction vs 2 wheels?
Will the 3wheelers stay on or are they just a fad?

 Hi.. I had 'some' experience riding the Goldwing Trike way back in the 2002. This model was based on the Honda Goldwing GL 1500 and had a fixed rear axle with "would you believe it" LEAF SPRINGS. They later came out with independently sprung rear wheels which were more comfortable to ride... but  still can't lean :salute: Good for the open highways in the US but a little tricky in the humps & bumps of KL and certainly out of the question in Ulu Yam , Genting & Bukit Tinggi guling
